The real meaning of establishment and sense of community is conformance to everybody. In other words, learning helps this meaning to come true. Education is an ideal time wherein the individual learns about some values like co-operation and team effort. Learning can help an individual to give up ego and selfishness and broaden his view towards the society and the nation as a whole. A community should seek and be able to identify these motivated candidates and take the opportunity to turn them into responsible citizens of tomorrow. This can only be done by establishment and maintenance of a sense of community so that the students have enough maturity about what they are doing and are aware of the consequences of their misbehavior.
Learning can prepare students for life engaged democratic citizenship by helping them understand the true facts about life that they cannot quit democracy and that democracy is the ideal way of living life. It should be understood that in the world of diverse cultures and people coming from different backgrounds it is extremely important that nobody gets hurt and every person’s feelings are respected and understood. The reason behind all problems is nothing but ego, so it should be clearly understood that in a rapidly changing and ever growing environment it would not only be harmful to be egoistic but also it can increase the gaps between the minds of people. It is necessary to keep all of our personal grievances aside and think of building a truly democratic nation. Higher education should help to dissolve the superstitions, if any, within the society and encourage the ability of speaking the truth within every student.
Higher Education should take preventive measures so that individuals do not develop into bad habits, because habits give rise to tendencies, tendencies give rise to false notions, false notions give rise to wrong orientations, wrong orientations give rise to wrong directions. A society which is inherently misdirected would obviously give wrong results thus developing into a vicious circle of bad habits turning into misdirected societies. Higher education should come forward and take necessary steps to avoid these kinds of problems. So, in order to develop into a matured and well understanding society it is very much necessary to think ahead of time and recognize the near future. However, higher education shouldn’t be forceful otherwise it would turn out to be a bad example of “All preached but nothing practiced”. We should have the patience to wait for the development of every individual so that not even a single innocent is punished. The only way we can do this is by practicing the art of keeping silence and helping the truth to come up. Higher education should bear in mind that these things can be taught to only those who believe that something good is going to happen. This way we can teach every student about maintaining a democratic lifestyle who is about to step in an outside world.
Allowing everybody to progress and at the same time help each and every student irrespective of his cast, creed, religion and sex should remain the motto of Higher Education. By following these ideals we can hope for a better tomorrow and a society of people where everybody has a common belief that “A help to you is help to others”. Only those people who can help themselves can help others. Helping people to undergo these changes is the responsibility of Higher Education and by doing this it can develop it’s own benchmark. “Today we may not have but tomorrow we will” is the notion that Higher Education should try to develop within every individual so that nobody is hurt and the successful are encouraged.
